Combs Elementary School teacher Rene Herrick is the 2009 Wake County Teacher of the Year. Superintendent Del Burns presented Herrick the Wake County Teacher of the Year Award. Burns praised Herrick for her data-driven classroom instruction and for her active involvement in the lives of her students. March 31, 2009 – The Board of Education approved the 2009-2010 operating budget for the Wake County Public School System making $115,000 in cuts to the austere budget they received March 3 from Superintendent Del Burns. CLICK HERE to get all the information.
