Student Meets Governor!

Student Meets Governor!
Student and Govenor
As a part of her biography project and research, 3rd grader, Caelen, recently met Governor Bev Perdue at a reception on April 6, 2010. Caelen was able to interview Governor Perdue about her life and career to support her upcoming project. She even invited Governor Perdue to attend a future Town Meeting at A.B. Combs as a Leader of the Week. Caelen, we are so proud of you for taking the initiative to seek out a meeting with our governor and for your hard work in Ms. Watkins' class. We look forward to seeing your project!

International Leader Visits Combs

Colonel Quraishi         International Leader Visits Combs

The International Affairs Council, sponsor of the International Visitor Leadership Program, arranged for Colonel Shafiqa Quraishi of Afghanistan to visit our campus on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Before stopping at Combs to see the leadership model in action, Colonel Shafiqa Quraishi was presented with an International Woman of Courage award from Secretary of State Clinton, and was also honored by First Lady Michelle Obama, this past week in Washington. After reading The Leader in Me, Colonel Quraishi requested a visit to Combs while she was on the east coast. Through a translator, she expressed her gratitude and admiration of our school and for what we are accomplishing with our mission and vision of leadership. While visiting, Colonel Quraishi watched a short presentation by students describing our leadership model and answered questions from a student panel. We were honored to have hosted such a distinguished guest at our school.
