In keeping with our Mission: “to develop leaders, one child at a time”, our behavior management program is Positive Behavior Support. PBS is a system of management developed to “support high student performance”. Some key features of PBS are:
- an approach to discipline that is proactive and outcome based. - adapted throughout the entire school. - establishes and reinforces clear, behavioral expectations. - an emphasis on continuous data-based improvement. - all decisions based on supporting data.
Our staff is committed to promoting positive behavior and leadership. Therefore, our school Code of Conduct is expressed through “Loyalty, Excellence, Achievement and Discipline, or L.E.A.D. Our school-wide L.E.A.D. matrix clearly describes behavioral expectations linked to these four attributes of leaders for our students to follow within all common areas of our building and campus. Teachers and students work together to develop their own classroom L.E.A.D. matrix.
Students learn the meaning of Loyalty, Excellence, Achievement and Discipline; how they look in real life situations and how to practice them in various situations throughout the school day. Our young leaders are learning to “walk the talk” of leadership. Our entire school staff supports and encourages students in this endeavor by recognizing students and classes who demonstrate L.E.A.D. on a daily basis.
